The pitch you should walk away from
If some giant company is offering you a packaged AI product for your business, they are selling you a template.
There is no way a templated AI product is going to know all the nuances of you, your business, and what you actually need taken care of. Trust me, I know.
That is the whole warning in this Fargo Walks clip, recorded in April 2026, and it has not aged a day.
Why a template cannot know your business
The value in AI comes from what it can read about you. Your email. Your calendar. Your meeting transcripts. How you close, how you follow up, what your clients keep asking for.
A template was built before anyone knew you existed. It knows the industry brochure. It does not know that your best clients come from referrals you answer within an hour, or that your bottleneck is the proposal, not the pitch.
That is why the systems I write about here are built from my own records. The end-of-day command doc reads my calendar. The brand voice file is built from my real messages. None of that comes in a box.
Two roads, and only two
Here is my advice, and it is blunt on purpose. Either do not go into AI at all, do not touch it, or spend the money and have somebody design a custom AI system for your wants, your needs, and your problems. Do that, and your life will be so much better.
The road I am warning you off is the middle one: paying for a template, discovering it does not fit, and concluding that AI does not work for your business. AI works. The template did not.
What custom actually means
1. It starts from your records
Not a vendor demo. Your sent folder, your calendar, your transcripts. The system reads what you already produce.
2. It serves a decision you named
Grade my day. Find what repeats. Draft the proposal in the prospect's voice. One clear job, defined by you.
3. It starts small
Custom does not mean expensive. It means fitted. The first build is one standing system, tested on your real work, before anything bigger gets funded.
4. Judgment stays with you
The system produces. You decide. If a product asks you to hand over the decision, it is a template with better marketing.
5. It gets measured in time returned
Minutes per day, counted. That is the only proof that a build fit.
What this does not mean
It does not mean the general platforms are the problem. ChatGPT and Claude are raw material. The template I am warning about is the packaged product that claims to already know your business.
It also does not mean you need a big budget. You need a builder who starts with your records instead of a demo.
The decision
Do not buy the template. Either stay out for now, or spend the money on a system designed around your business, and then measure what it gives back.

WHEN THE DECISION MATTERS
Custom means built from your business, not a vendor's template.
Fargo Factor helps established businesses decide where AI belongs, then design and build the small custom systems that fit how the business actually runs.
