Where this comes from
I have been curating organic social media content for over 30 years. I started in 1994 on America Online. I have dropped over 100 episodes of my podcast. Until about a month before I recorded this Fargo Walks clip in March 2026, I was a super user on ChatGPT. Then I went to Claude.
That is the seat I am looking from. Here is exactly how I think you should be looking at AI.
The lens
As soon as you walk out the door, look at everything through one question: is what I am seeing replaceable by AI?
Your barista. Your doctor. Your lawyer. The person handing you something at a convenience store. Everybody. Start looking at it.
The point is not to be grim about other people's jobs. The point is to train your eye on how work actually breaks down, because you will need that eye for the next step.
The mirror
Then you look in the mirror. Are you replaceable by AI?
Answer it honestly. Most people answer it for the whole job and get it wrong in both directions. Answer it for the pieces. Which parts of what you do could a system do now, and which parts could it not?
Two roads, and you pick one
If you think you are replaceable, become bulletproof
How can you use AI to become bulletproof at your position? Take the parts of your work AI can do and run them through AI, so you are the person who produces more, faster, with better judgment on top. The person who runs the system is harder to replace than the person competing with it.
If you cannot get there, pivot under the AI umbrella
Look at the skills and talents you already have and find where they apply to work that AI creates or needs. Someone has to decide what gets built, check what comes out, own the relationship, and take accountability for the result.
Run the lens for one week
1. Notice every job you touch
Coffee, clinic, counsel, checkout. For each one, name the tasks and ask which ones AI could do today.
2. Write your own list
Every task from your normal week. Not the title. The tasks.
3. Mark the replaceable ones
Repeatable, digital, source-based, easy to check. Be honest.
4. Test one this week
Run it through ChatGPT or Claude with real inputs. Judge the result against your standard. That tells you how bulletproof you can get.
5. Decide the road
Bulletproof or pivot. Then start. The lens is only useful if it changes what you do.
If you own the business, the employer version of this is Before You Hire, Audit What AI Can Handle. The individual task audit is in What Parts of Your Job Can AI Replace?
What this does not mean
It does not mean every job on your walk disappears. It means the work inside those jobs is already changing, and the people who see it first get to choose their road.
The decision
Use the lens. Look at every job, then look in the mirror, and pick your road before the market picks it for you.

I'm going to tell you exactly how you should be looking at AI. I've been curating organic social media content for over 30 years. I started in 1994 on America Online. I've dropped over 100 episodes of my podcast, and up until a month ago I was a super user on ChatGPT. Then I went to Claude. Game changer. As soon as you walk out the door, look through the lens of is what I'm seeing replaceable by AI? Your barista, your doctor, your lawyer. The person giving you something at a convenience store. Everybody, you need to start looking at it, and then you look in the mirror. Are you replaceable by AI? If you think you are, how can you leverage AI to become bulletproof at your position? If you can't do that, you need to look to see what skills and talents you have to pivot and do something under the AI umbrella. Go forth. Use that lens.
